The Dream Needs a Team (You): It’s Just About… Life.

I need youI need you. I’m asking you to help me realize my dream. It’s no secret. I’ve talked about it before, let you in on my desire, my purpose, my Why. A big part of it is to be an author, to publish.

This weekend I took part in one of the more intense experiences of my young life called Bestseller in a Weekend, hosted by Alicia Dunams, (http://www.aliciadunams.com/aboutalicia/), (http://www.bestsellerinaweekend.com) She’s the real deal, and can help you go from idea to author, with lessons learned in a single weekend. It’s no game, she’s serious. You don’t have to get published in a weekend, but I learned all the steps to get it done and get it right. From Friday afternoon until late Sunday night, I never left the house. Now, I’m ready.

Ready to move forward like never before. I’ve mentioned it here, and on the pages of my caringbridge blog, (http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/debbiebrodinsky), but I would very much like my first effort to be based on the journal I have kept for more than a year chronicling and providing my support, love and perspective on the battle my wife Debbie waged against breast cancer. Our journey. My working title is It Takes Two. Surviving Breast Cancer: A Spouse’s Story. It’s up for discussion, because I want and need your input, not just for the title, but for all of the steps moving forward. I want you involved and engaged and to be part of and recognized for your efforts. If it’s done correctly there will be the opportunity as well to donate to the American Cancer Society and continue the good fight to find a cure.

I need a team. No dream is possible without one. I will need some rock stars when it comes time for a book launch, a pre-launch blitz from those of you who have a massive social media presence, online connections, or e-mail lists that are off the charts, to help get the word out. I am seeking interviews with thought leaders, community contributors, experts in the field, and celebrities, some of those are already in the works. If you know anything about this blog, you know I try at every turn to learn more, to understand more, to share more, to lift you up. At this moment in time I’m asking for a little bit in return. Together we can all become more for a good cause.

At least once a week, until my target date of late June, I will blog about the experience, let you in on what is happening and ask for assistance. Can I count on you? Crowd sourcing can take this entire experience to the next level. Together we can bring into focus a story about breast cancer and the journey, our journey, which thousands shared, by following the caringbridge site and this blog. It’s a story worth expanding on and adding expert opinion in the pages of an e-book and paperback, if but to provide proof how strength, caring, concern, focus and speaking from the heart can make a difference. And in this case, there’s a happy ending. The hero, my wife, wins.

I believe, no I know, if presented in the right way, at its core as a love story, along with words of advice and your thoughts from the guestbook pages of the caringbridge site, then this story of the journey can make a difference. It can become an inspiration, a beacon of hope and of light, especially for those going through, or about to face the same challenge. For those about to dance with the devil, to take on the beast, which when it arrives on your doorstep affects every single part of your existence.

My wife fought a good fight, I stayed in step, beside her in heart and in words. I’m hoping you can help me bring those words to life, for all time, in the pages of an important book. My team needs you.
