Pure Imagination: It’s Just About… Life

pure imagination

It’s that time of year, for reflection and for future planning. The time we all look to the new year and wonder what it will bring – the same, better, or worse – the latter being the one to ignore, because it’s not worth thinking about – if you do so then you close your mind to possibility and prosperity.

Time instead to imagine the possibilities, then plan to make them happen with everything you’ve got. Just like One Republic sings in their song, I Lived – “I owned every second that this world could give…. with every broken bone, I swear I lived.” If you want to know/feel what that song is really all about, then go back to the post I wrote just last week: (https://markbrodinsky.com/i-lived-its-just-about-life/)

But before you can live – you’ve got to know why you live. If you want to think about purpose then go back – back to the way it was when you felt like everything was possible, when nothing made you scared, that the entire world was simply an open book waiting to be written. Truth is it still is.

Currently I am reading two books at once, The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne and The Seed by Jon Gordon. One book reminds me to turn the negative thoughts around and give the universe a shot at conspiring with me to get it right, the other is taking me on a journey to find purpose and happiness in life and work. From The Seed: “Your past leads to your future, and your future is connected to your past. You can’t have one without the other. To see your purpose more clearly, you have to go backward in order to move forward. Think about your past and you’ll find the clues to create your future.”

Go back to go forward. So maybe it wasn’t a mistake, or a simple coincidence, that as I’m in the process of reading that book and I flipped on the TV  yesterday, I should stumble upon one of my favorite movies from my childhood. A movie which has stood the test of time and just minutes before the star of that film was to sing the signature song from that movie, one which still resonates more than 40 years later.

Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory and the song…Pure Imagination.

As you and I are working on our plans for life – all aspects of life in 2015 – family, business, health – nothing should hold us back from imagining what’s possible, especially if we can remember what it was like to feel when almost anything was:

Come with me and you’ll be
in a world of pure imagination
Take a look and you’ll see
into your imagination.

We’ll begin with a spin
traveling in a world of my creation
what we’ll see will defy explanation.

Envision the heart’s desire, without fear, what made you feel alive when you were younger and capture that spirit and possibility in your mind and in your heart…

If you want to view paradise
simply look around and view it
anything you want to do it
want to change the world, there’s nothing to it.

Imagine what life could be like, what living your purpose could do for your heart and soul by tapping into what it is that makes you come alive then go out and do that thing, because what the world needs more of is people who have come alive.

There is no life I know
to compare with pure imagination
living there, you’ll be free
if you truly wish to be.

Imagine the life you want and the way you want it to be in 2015 and beyond, then design the plan to make it happen. Dream big, bigger than you ever thought possible, with pure imagination. And don’t let the dream crushers, or as Willy Wonka refers to them as the Wangdoodles, Hornswogglers, Snozzwangers and rotten Vermicious Knids, get in your way They are the dream stealers and you should avoid them at any cost.

Instead imagine what is possible this coming year for you and those you love. Heed Wonka’s advice and act with a sense of urgency, because as he says, “we have so much time and so little to do…..  scratch that reverse it.” 🙂

Get out there and plan to make it happen. Go back to the place in your heart which imagines all that is possible, then make that possibility your reality.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time.
