It’s the secret sauce. The one thing that makes things happen. No wishing, hoping, dreaming, or affirmations can replace it. If you do it, there’s no stopping you, if you don’t do it, you leave your life up to luck or chance.
That one thing is activity. But not just any activity.
I’m currently reading The Five Major Pieces to the Life Puzzle, by Jim Rohn (and will be adding it to the Higher Shelf! page on this blog shortly) and he devotes an entire chapter to this one word. I think it’s worth sharing a few of his words here because we can all learn a thing or two, and if nothing else it will at least make you think:
“What each of us can do is remarkable. People can do the most amazing things, once they have made the decision to tackle the disciplines that lead to a new philosophy, a new attitude, and a new and intense level of activity. Any day we chose we can walk alway from wherever we are regardless of the circumstances. Apple by apple, one day at a time, one paragraph at a time, one new discipline at a time, we can begin the process of amending our activity to such a degree that today can become the starting point of a whole new life.
One of the great challenges facing us all is disciplined activity. We must discipline the reach of our knowledge, for we can have too much as well as too little. We must discipline ourselves to maintain a proper attitude, for we are surrounded by sources that can quickly erode the attitude we have worked so hard to develop. And we must discipline ourselves to convert dreams into plans, and plans into goals, and goals into those small daily activities that will lead us, one sure step at a time, toward a better future.”
Here’s to making it the best future it can be.
Until next time, thanks for taking the time.
