Circle in a Square: It’s Just About… Life.

Who says it can’t be done?
Can’t fit a circle in a square? Just find yourself a square that’s big enough!

I’ve had this picture on my phone for a few days now and I figured on a holiday weekend, why not share. That’s Ollie, our dog. He’s usually pretty busy with stuff like this, when he’s not napping, or barking at everything, or everyone walking by outside. In fact, Ollie has been blogged about before, (https://markbrodinsky.com/2013/02/21/a-dogs-life-in-yours-observations-of-life/), but the picture was worth another post about our Shichon, don’t you think?

Besides, it’s really more about the title of this post, than about Ollie, though he is worthy of many blogs, maybe even a book. But my point, and I’ll keep it brief, cause I know you have a weekend to get to, is he obviously doesn’t seem to fit there. That’s a cat door in which Ollie stuck his head, (for the cat we had for about five minutes when we moved into the house), not a doggie door. When Ollie was a puppy he could pop in and out of there with ease, now he’s about 20 pounds and his body is bigger, so it’s a struggle, but my boy still finds a way. And he taught himself to make it happen.

His mission was to come downstairs and hang out in the basement with us. My point is he was on a mission and he found a way to accomplish his goal, though it might have been a struggle. Ollie knew what he wanted and he found a way to get it.

Yes, he’s a dog, but there’s a lesson here. Sometimes we all think too much about what we want to accomplish and end up taking no action at all. We don’t even stick our head in, or our neck out, to take a peek and observe the landscape. Just because it’s a circle in a square, and you’ve heard the expression it can’t be done, if the square is big enough, and you’re willing to think outside the box and be brave, you might do something extraordinary. Countless others have taken a chance and done the same.

Don’t discount your goal, or your path to get there, just because it looks too challenging. Sometimes your instincts are right, and your thinking just needs an adjustment to make it fit. Just remember to put your best face forward.

Just like Ollie. (And that’s quite the face).
