Karma. Maybe it’s already happening.
Thanks to the incredible response my letter/story to Orioles owner Peter Angelos has received through social media, online and elsewhere, including the comments sent directly to me over the past week.
Now it’s time to send it.
I posted it first. Then left town for business for a week. I got back as the storm was ending, mail slowed and then there was President’s Day, with no mail delivery. Today, stuffed and stamped the letter goes to three people, including Mr. Angelos himself and two others who I hope might deliver it to him personally, just in case, (and in all probability), he doesn’t open his own.
And just maybe the karma and the energy of the whole thing is having an effect… this just hours ago from the Global Post:
“After a winter in which the Baltimore Orioles made no major acquisitions, the team finally broke out the checkbook the night before the position players were due to report to spring training. The Orioles agreed to a four-year, $48 million deal with free agent right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez on Feb. 17, hours after they finalized a three-year, $5,575,000 deal with South Korean right-hander Suk-min Soon.”
As the team beings full spring training today in Sarasota, and the weather here at home starts to warm, just maybe the tide is turning. I hope the letter warms Mr. Angelos’ heart. Perhaps even before he receives it, it already has. This was my purpose all along.

Thanks again.
Until next time, thanks for taking the time.
