It’s time to say farewell. Not for me and this blog, but to the man who has been my mentor for three years, a man I have never met, though hope to one day. Yet for these past three years I have been inspired through his voice, his knowledge, his interviews, his spirit, his magazine and inspired by his thoughts and his unwavering belief that anything is possible.
It’s been three years since I truly took the plunge into the journey of personal development and it was really because of one man, Darren Hardy, the publisher of Success Magazine. The magazine is tremendous, but the CD inside of that magazine is life-changing. And it’s all because Hardy chooses to share what he learns and interviews the best-of-the-best to inspire and guide you through life. This month as I put the newest Success CD into the player in my car, (which I do nearly every day), I listened to Hardy do his normal introduction to the audio program… and then I listened to him announce he’s leaving – stepping down as publisher of Success.
At first listen, that’s a crusher, my personal mentor moving on. But in normal Hardy fashion he turned it around to be an inspiring move – “it is in the spirit of growth, challenge and adventure that I will be stepping out of my role as publisher of Success. It is time for me to take aggressive action on my mission to onboard 10 million new entrepreneurs over the next three years and my grand ambition to positively impact the great influencers of our society through personal mentorship of CEO’s and high-performing entrepreneurs.”
Hardy proves once again that change is inevitable, growth is optional. Something he has inspired me to do these past few years – to realize change will come, or you will make change happen, and when it does you must seize the opportunity to grow.
In the wrap-up of this latest CD and in his farewell – Hardy chooses to repeat a quote from his own mentor Jim Rohn:
“The goal of this human adventure is productivity. Pursuing the full development of all your potential. To see what all you can do with all you have been given. Don’t seek security, seek adventure. It is better to live thirty years full of adventure, then a hundred years safe in the corner. “
Hardy goes on to then share a passage from his favorite book, Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand:
“He the man of violent energy and passion and ambition, the man of achievement guided by the flame of his success. In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world for those who are its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive do not let the vision of man be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless and those who have never achieved their title. Do not let your fire go out. Spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not quite, the not yet, the not at all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in the lonely frustration for the life you deserve but not been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle, the world you desire can be won. It exists. It’s real. It’s possible.”
And then Hardy goes on to say: “It is possible. And it’s possible for you. I believe in you. And I wish you great success.”
Thanks Darren Hardy, because of you I now believe in me too. And I believe anything is possible.
Until next time, thanks for taking the time
