Friends: It’s Just About… Life.

Sometimes a good picture and a caption are all you need…and sometimes all you need is a friend. My daughter Emily showed me this picture her friend Leah posted on Instagram the other day. Maybe not the girls’ best look :), but the simplicity of the picture and the message posted at the bottom say it all.

We all need at least one, a friend that is, no matter who that person might be. Someone to talk to, to turn to, to spend time with. Someone who is there when you need them and willing to lend an ear, a hand, or their heart. A good friendship is solid gold – beautiful and enduring – it might need a little shining up now and then, but no matter what, it will be there in the end.

As my girls grow some friends come and go, but then there are those who have around since the beginning, true treasures who you hope will stay connected in some way, for a lifetime. You hear so often about family and friends, sometimes the two are intertwined and all help shape the person you become, or who you are now.

They say friends are the family we meet along the way. They say you are a product of the four or five people you spend the most time with, that you grow into the conversations around you and you mimic their actions and their interests. I believe it to be true, so be careful, be wise and choose well…my friend.

Until next time (the 200th post!), thanks for taking the time.
