Learn To Be Still: It’s Just About… Life

two days in the year

You can’t recognize it if you don’t see it. You can’t feel it if you never stop to reflect on it. And you are missing the point if you simply fail to slow down.

Learn to be still.

If you just put on the brakes, if you simply stop for even five minutes it will all become clear. There is much more to life than simply running through it. How can you see and feel the abundance  if you never take the time to view it, to reflect on it, and even to learn from your mistakes.

It’s time to shut up, sit down, think, reflect. Who can’t find five minutes a day to do just that? That’s thirty-five minutes of the 168 hours in your week. Seems overwhelming doesn’t it 😉 but how many of us take the time to do it?

Just stop. Just look. Just listen.

You might be surprised to find that so much of the world you thought mattered a great deal, actually matters very little. It’s just noise. And noise you don’t need to hear. You might also realize what you are not paying attention to things that needs attention. You could see (gasp) that the world actually has much to offer, it is a beautiful ride, but even that ride needs to take a moment (more than a moment) to rest and to reflect. You could even stop from making a mistake, because you first took the time to think about it – to reflect, to slow down, to look before you leap.

I learned that lesson this week, because I didn’t take the time to think before I acted. Instead of taking time to reflect, I instead responded without thinking. Instead of doing nothing, I did something, when all I needed to do was to be silent and to realize whatever it was, was just a tiny mark on the big chalkboard of life. In the big scheme of things it mattered very little. Lesson learned.

It’s always the time to reflect, to think, to bring into your own being a sense of knowing that life is just that – life. Up, down, sideways, forward, backward – it never stops and will come at you from every angle. The key, the trick, the secret is for you to not do the same. Don’t get crazy, just get lazy, at least for a few minutes a day. To take that time and let the world either go away, or to realize that the universe could be on your side, if you make the decision to reflect, to be grateful, to see the abundance.

Don’t run, don’t walk, don’t crawl, don’t move.

Just learn to be still.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time
