My Next Chapter (Please Read): It’s Just About… Life

I hope through the posts on this blog I have served to earn your trust and respect. I believe you do that by speaking the truth and to show your inside – to be vulnerable.  Speak from the heart, but live from the heart as well, and live like there is no tomorrow.

I am going to do that for you right now.

I am making a change in my career today for reasons of simplicity, reasons which took time for me to gain the clarity, but in the end which bring me peace. It is the compound effect of the past few years working in financial services, my deep dive into personal growth and self-improvement, my mission to become more and help others do the same, (helping them find their WHY) and a desire to grow my leadership skills and provide HOPE .

In essence I am living the statement: change is inevitable, growth is optional.

Yesterday was my last day at the financial services firm I have called home for the past three years. It is a great place to work and for many it will be the place they call home for the rest of their working years – maybe even beyond in semi-retirement. But for me, while I enjoyed the ride, it has been a roller coaster from the inside – a feeling that for whatever reason, I couldn’t make fit. Its OK. It’s a noble profession and I believe in everything I have done and I have developed relationships I hope will last a lifetime with my clients and a few of my colleagues.

Its OK. Not every industry is for everyone and for anyone who reads the posts on this blog, has read my book, or heard me speak, you know I also have other dreams I am working to achieve.  I would like more freedom to do so, and take a slightly different path to make it happen, but remain steadfast in my desire to serve others as I work toward those dreams.

The following passage is one that speaks deeply to me in the pages of a book I am reading by Bob Buford, called Half Time:

As long as we breathe, it is never too late to discover a better way. The existential writer Albert Camus discovered this truth: ‘In the midst of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer. We find our orders and our compass within us. The more you listen to the voice within you, the better you will hear what is sounding outside.”

An invincible summer. Warmth and light that does not dim or fade away. I feel it.

And one more thing, as I provide you explanation, taken from the pages of this same book:

…you and I will be held accountable only for what we were given, not for what others might have or expect from us. The guy who was given only two talents and doubled them is esteemed as highly as the guy who started out with five. We are not all given the same equipment, but we are expected to know what we were given and find ways to invest ourselves wisely.”

I have a few talents, or strengths I am looking to “double”. One is to serve others, to care for others in the field of insurance sales, helping them not only see the need, but put them in the best position possible and to serve a niche for so many who need incredible guidance and hand-holding to find the way through a maze of confusion and misinformation. I can help them find a better way and do it on a mission of HOPE – Helping Other People Every Day. It is why I decided to rejoin this mission through a group called USHealth Advisors and to bring my expertise in the field of health insurance and benefits to custom-design plans to help individuals, families and the self-employed. Just as importantly I plan to leverage and share my strength by building a team and attempting to replicate myself by teaching others to do the same.

My other strength to “double down” is what you are reading right now, it is how I can write and how I am trying to speak from the heart each time I do, whether it is a message on personal growth, sharing someone else’s story and touching hearts and touching lives in The Sunday Series, working on my next book, or speaking to others to motivate and inspire. My talents in this area are also “God-given” and I am looking to expand this part of my life as to enrich the lives of others and fulfill my mission: to positively impact the lives of a billion people.

Taking just a few strengths and going after a strategy to take them to a level that is one-thousand times where they are now, within the sole purpose of doing it in a way to love, serve and care for others, this is my mission. To answer one question in life, one that is simple but pure in its vulnerability – “What can I do to be useful to you?”

I want the answer to be present and simple: I am Mark Brodinsky and this is what I do.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time

Mark
