Imagine what is possible if you pour your life into other people.
I remember back in February of this year, one month after starting this blog when there were 2,000 participants, now “It’s Just About… Life”, stands at more than 20,000. Ten months in, ten times the size. Community, tribe, collaboration. I can’t do it alone, nor should I dare try. It’s all about sharing, all about giving back.
It’s about telling stories, gaining insight and learning from each other. I’ve learned you can make a difference, one word at a time. One click at a time. One view of this blog, one message shared, one heart touched, one mind opened to the possibility of living the life that you deserve, by finding a way to share your gift and in doing so, change the lives of other people.
It’s a simple concept, but takes practice, a daily focus, a plan and your unending passion. But I believe it all truly begins with the mindset to help other people. The greatest leaders, the most accomplished in society, are the ones that give, or those who have passed on, but are remembered, because they gave.
U.S. President Woodrow Wilson: “You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of home and achievement. You are here to enrich the world and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.”
Steel magnate Andrew Carnegie: “No man becomes rich unless he enriches others.”
Martin Luther King Jr: “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, “What are we doing for others?”
Wendy’s Restaurant Founder, Dave Thomas: “If you’re not giving of yourself as much as you’re giving of your wallet, are you really generous down deep? We should work hard to make the Virtuous Circle of Generosity the number-one epidemic in the United States, giving of wealth, giving of self. Unstoppable and unending.”
D.L. Moody – “Do all the good you can, to all the people you can, in all the ways you can, as long as you can.”
That is my mission, with this blog, with my book, (books, more to come), with my financial planning practice. And who knows what else to come… because the journey has no end, I am only scratching the surface of what is possible.
And I’ve saved the best for last. From author, speaker, and thought leader John C. Maxwell, for this thought may be the may be the defining message: “What we do for ourselves alone dies with us, but what we do for others and the world remains immortal.”
So pour it on and watch what happens.
Until next time, thanks for taking the time.
