It is way more than just one hour. Maybe this should be called the “most wonderful time of the year.” If the holidays are joyful, how great is the feeling to turn the clock ahead one hour and get ready to embrace more light. And embrace we should, because while the days are long, the years are short. Time to make the most of it.
If you begrudge losing an hour, giving up time during the precious weekend, think of it this way… to get, you have to give. So we sacrifice 60 minutes to gain more hours of sunlight. The 24 hours of the day, the 168 hours of the week, seem just a bit longer, just a bit stronger, just a bit sweeter, when the sun sets beyond the horizon just a bit later. We spring forward in anticipation of one of the great transformations of the four seasons, when life outside starts to bloom again. Spring.
What a great time to embrace that feeling inside yourself. When you change, when you grow, the world changes for you. Change your inner world and your outer world will suddenly open up endless opportunities. You have the chance to spring forward, to make your days reflect the season to come.
What a better day to start… then today. You can’t wait for the perfect time, the time is now. It bears repeating, the days are long, but the years are short.
Today marks exactly 60 days since I launched this blog. Funny how this day aligns with the hours just before we take control of one hour of time and move it forward. It’s significant, but only if you make it so. 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 60 days since I decided to share. The purpose, my why, is to become more, by helping others to do the same. By recognizing that we all harness so little of our potential it’s simply staggering, and the only way to unleash the power is to pay attention to moving the peg forward, one hole at a time. Your life grows when your attention goes, to becoming more. Personal satisfaction and success is not an overnight sensation, just ask the people who have accomplished so much already. The most successful people have an unwavering devotion and dedication to learning, to reading, to growing, to gratitude, to appreciation and to offering unending amounts of support and love. They help others to become more than they ever possibly dreamed they could be, because the great secret to life, is you can do just that, if you try. The most successful people can spring forward on a dime, but that’s the point, they never stop looking to do just that… and the way they get there is to help others to move forward, one step at a time.
“Yard by yard life is hard, inch by inch, it’s a cinch.” I read that line recently and it couldn’t be more true, especially right now, as we look to push time ahead by just one hour. In the big scheme of things, on the great canvas of life, on a path to personal growth and fulfillment, it’s one small step, but in the days ahead, it has a dramatic affect on all of us.
The sun will soon shine brighter and longer. More light, more insight, a chance to shine.
I hope you take the chance, I’m right beside you, every inch of the way.
Until next time, thanks for taking the time.
Mark
