Storytelling for Business: Pursuing Excellence

“Our brains, our fear, our sense of what’s possible, and the reality of ‘only’ 24 hours in a day give us preconceived notions of what is humanly possible.” – Robert Rodriguez, Director/Screenwriter/Producer/Cinematographer/Editor and Musician

Humanly possible, meaning the only limits exist in the human mind. Make no mistake about this – as I grow in years and in life experiences I believe more and more in the power of authenticity, and so I come to this blog in two ways – as an inspired writer and as a committed leader at a company I call my home, USHEALTH Advisors.

I’m just coming off of a week of inspiration and fellowship at the annual Builders Meeting in Panama City, Florida – and once again the realization that much is possible… and nothing is impossible, if you have belief, faith and put in the work.

It’s the pursuit of perfection, which is an irrational end game, but if you jump into the journey with both feet, you will undoubtedly achieve excellence along the way.

Words mean a lot… words plus massive action (work) and outstanding results reflect the magic formula. The work is underway at USHEALTH Advisors to surpass a billion dollars in business this year, based on a platform of helping, service and caring. Get those three right and the world will beat a path to your door, especially when the unique health products you have to offer fit the mold of the company mission of HOPE: Helping Other People Everyday.

Here now in no particular order and not attributed to one specific person, are some golden tidbits I gathered from the speakers during  this week. It’s a list I will keep in front of me, as should everyone, as we strive to create the most dominant sales organization of any kind, in any industry in America, bar none.

Words can inspire the world:

Find a way to bring your very best self, even on your very worst day.

You can change the game, or you can change the way the game is played.

Change is the only thing that stays the same.

Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.

Inspire everyone on your team to suffer equally, because all problems are “ours”.

WE thinking always wins.

No one alone is as strong, as fast, or as smart as all of us.

Be genuinely inspired by your mission.

It’s not what you know, it’s what you are willing to learn along the way.

Don’t set out to impress. If you set out instead to inspire your people, you will impress them.

Make a difference in the lives we are entrusted to serve.

The challenge is to do all that we can, with all that we have to build a better tomorrow.

Not one person in this company is looking to be average, for no one was born to be average.

We cannot become who we hope to be by remaining who we are.

Always measure yourself against a status of excellence.

The past is simply that, the past.

We can build a future of prosperity, compassion and achievement. None of this is promised, but it is possible.

Somebody once said that in looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence and energy. If you don’t have the first, the other two will kill you.

Circumstance does not define us, choice does.

What you feel grows, let your faith erase your doubt.

Feed integrity, faith and selflessness, then all things continue to be possible.

Selflessness requires sacrifice.

A life not lived for others is not a life.

Let HOPE enter your soul.

Every day you have the power to change someone’s life.

What you resist will persist.

Don’t squander your God-given gift of unlimited potential.

We go farther when we go together.

Leadership is the challenge to be something more than average.

Leadership is not a career, leadership is a calling.

———————————————————————-

The last one is a call to action for any leader. Inspiration comes from outside, but motivation comes from deep within. Words might inspire the world, but for the world to spin on its axis there has to be action. Consistent, persistent, world-class action. Do that and you change the world and the lives of those you touch.

USHEALTH Advisors is a unique company with a one-of-a-kind culture that is revered in American business.  As leaders we stand at the precipice of a monumental moment in time where lives are being changed on a daily basis, beginning with our clients and then the lives of the people that help and serve in the field, in the home office and in nearly every corner of the company.

The challenge is turning the corner – and then climbing straight up – step-by-step, to see the view from the top, with everyone along for the journey. As leaders we are responsible for all that happens, the successes, the failures and even the occasional miracle.

Perhaps Navy Seal Commander Jocko Willink best defines the core of leadership:

“As a leader there is no one to blame. Don’t make excuses. If I don’t take ownership of problems, I can’t solve them. That’s what a leader has to do, take ownership of the problems, the mistakes and the shortfalls, and take ownership of creating and implementing solutions to get those problems solved. Take ownership.”

The call today and moving forward this year is to pursue excellence and by doing so we will no doubt attract success. Helping and serving never go out of style. So it’s time to do so by grabbing and pulling on the rope together, with the biggest and grandest vision of yourself, with all of your potential and heart in plain view for the world to see, in full faith and with the belief that all is possible.

Do that and you just can’t lose.

Here’s to a billion and beyond. One team, one dream.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time.
