“It’d be something other than human not to wish him luck on his last push up the mountain.” – Paul Solotoroff
He could, he should, if I had the rights, be the poster boy for this blog – do what it is you do very very well, better than most and then intersect that talent, that gift, with what you love to do. Then it’s no longer work, it’s fulfilling your life’s purpose – finding your WHY.
That’s Buck Showalter. His WHY, his ability to live the dream – and you if you take a few minutes today to click on both links below and read the articles — you will see why. Look it’s not me saying it – I’m a homer, this is my hometown, my home team – so I don’t have the right to offer an “objective” perspective – and I freely admit that. But when other people who don’t bleed black and orange, those from the outside stand up and take notice, well there’s nothing like a 3rd party endorsement.
In 1989 the Orioles and their fans cooked up a campaign called Why Not? – as they made a serious run at going from worst to almost first after an awful 1988 season. But now, it’s everyone else looking at the Orioles and saying Why Not? or maybe What the Hell? There’s a reason and his name is Buck. Again, don’t take it from me, take it from others who are now paying attention and others who have been watching since Buck took the reigns in August 29, 2010.
The first article you will see was published back in April of 2011 – it was an omen of things to come and explains how when you want it bad enough and you are willing to do the things that others will not, to get what most others will never have – you are doing something very special, something others view as remarkable. That’s what Buck Showalter is doing and we are all gazing in wonder.
The second article is from just the other day – a testament to the amazing results – as we near the top of The Climb.
