It Takes Two. Surviving Breast Cancer: A Spouse’s Story. The update.
The cover is complete, and 99% sure it will be the one for an e-book and soft cover edition. We’re keeping it under wraps for now. Every journal entry is now in a folder titled, The Manuscript, and I am doing some late night and early morning reading to go through each journal entry and read for content and grammar. My efforts will be modified, I’m sure, by a copy and content editor. The goal is to have the manuscript in the hands of that editor by the end of this week, so editing and formatting can take place.
The book launch is pushed back a bit, and with good reason. After talking with friends, Marc & Kathy Silverstein from On The Marc Media, (www.onthemarcmedia.com), it was decided the best time to publish would be just prior to Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Many thanks to Marc and Kathy for their advice and feedback. It just makes sense, after all the message and the heart of the book is all about the breast cancer journey, caregiving and survival, so why not launch it at a time when everyone else is aware of the topic as well.
I will be the MC at a local event in mid-September, The Breast Lunch Ever, (details to come) and am looking at other events as well to share the story around the book launch. I am also looking into Crowdfunding for the book, since part of the proceeds will go to charity. Anyone with experience in that area, feel free to drop me a line, either on the comment section of this blog, or by e-mail. I am also looking to create the book website, as well as some video content on YouTube and links on Twitter. Any feedback is welcome.
All the while, the journey continues, the book of life inside this journey still being written. We are now just about five weeks away from what we hope will be the final physical step of the breast cancer journey, as we re-visit Little Vinny’s Tattoo Shop in Finksburg, MD. That experience will likely be an “extra” for those who download the e-book. (These matters still to be decided late in the game.)
The creation of the book is a process, slow and steady, but to be expected. The pace goes right along with the story, the same small but steady steps we had to take as Debbie healed and fought back from defeating breast cancer. But just like that battle the vision and goal are clear: Failure is not an option.
Until next time, thanks for taking the time.
