The Dream Update: It’s Just About… Life.

updateThanks already for the support. As a way to hold myself accountable, I promised a weekly update on the book. The book I am writing based on the journal I have kept during my wife’s battle with breast cancer. We are making progress.

– The title is holding so far, unless I hear other ideas: It Takes Two. Surviving Breast Cancer: A Spouse’s Story.
– I now have the transcript of the 2 hour Q & A session I did with another author, who interviewed me about the experience. I have started reviewing it and making notes.
– Discussions are underway about the book cover design. And here’s a question for you… should there be a picture of my wife and I on the front cover, or on the back?
– I am scheduling an expert interview for the book and expect to schedule at least one more in the coming week.
– I have interviewed two other local authors and have a meeting scheduled for next week with another, to learn about the tips, tricks and “trip-ups” of self-publishing.
– I am still debating a launch date. End of June? End of August (post-summer)? Breast Cancer Awareness month in October? I’m all ears on this one, what do you think is best?
– An E-book is planned, with paperback copies available through a service called CreateSpace.

– And a very special thanks to those who have answered the call, or volunteered to help with the book blitz, a 24-48 hour mass marketing movement, which will require all the friends, supporters and tribe members we can muster to promote the publishing date. Anyone who wants to take part, let me know. My goal is to make this special, to share with as many people as possible, so they can learn about Debbie’s story and hopefully inspire and help others going through the same journey.

The dream needs a team. Many of you have already offered to lend a hand, and it is so appreciated, prior to release you will have a free chapter, or two, coming your way.

What I have learned is you don’t live life on an island, not if you want to be happy and successful. If you’re lucky you live life in the midst of a sea of humanity and once in a while hope others will help you float along. During this past year so many of you were life savers, supporting my wife as she worked to save her own. The book is as much about your strength, devotion and love, as it is about her own courage, determination and fortitude.

Together we are sharing an emotional journey. And even after accomplishing so much, we know the best is yet to come.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time… and helping to live the dream.

Mark
