Vienna Waits for You: It’s Just About… Life.

vienna
Away for a few days of travel and celebration, but now it’s time to get back to basics with a bit of reflection.

Do you sometimes need a reminder to slow down and take stock of all around you and what you want to accomplish? I know I do, it helps me to realize what I’ve got, where I want to go and that I can’t rush to get there, because I will skip too many steps along the way.

I haven’t done this in awhile…break down some lyrics, but every now and then a great song inspires me to do just this… to slow down, to say it’s OK, I’ll get there and sometimes get there even faster if I remind myself it will all work out, perhaps even better if I simply reflect on the challenge, the road ahead and again take time to take in the abundance I already have.

Haven’t heard this one in some time: Vienna, by Billy Joel (and even a newer version, as my daughters gently reminded me by Ariana Grande, that’s right I’m up on the teen scene :))

Where’s the fire, what’s the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do and only so many hours in a day

He’s not lying. We all have the same. 24 hours in a day. 168 hours in a week. It’s what you choose to do with those hours that matters. Pack in too much and something’s got to give, either work, family, or love. The trick is in the balance of loving them all, especially easy if you love what you do for a living, for so many of us that is a trick.

Slow down you’re doing fine
You can’t be everything you want to be before your time
Although it’s so romantic on the borderline tonight

Like I said, if you go too fast you miss way too much. You will get there if you are patient and realize, as Marc Allen, author of The Millionaire Course states… “do it in an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way, in its own perfect time, for the greatest good of all.”
Sometimes the battle to be where you really want to be is romantic, if you can find joy in the journey.

Too bad, but it’s the life you lead
You’re so ahead of yourself that you forgot what you need
Though you can see when you’re wrong
You know you can’t always see when you’re right, you’re right

What a great line, you’re so ahead of yourself that you forgot what you need. Ever done that before? Looked so far down the line and into the distance that you forgot so much of what you need to reach the destination is already close at hand, family, friends, resources, faith, passion… it’s all here now if you simply pay attention, start from the inside out and look around to find the opportunities right in front of you.

You got your passion, you got your pride
But don’t you know that only fools are satisfied?
Dream on, but don’t imagine they’ll all come true

Do you have a dream? Have too many, it’s like having none. It takes a great deal of energy, strength, perseverance, and a game plan to reach even one, so hone in on the one you believe will make you truly fulfilled. Chase one, not all of them. Reach even one and the keys to the others might just land on your doorstep.

And you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want or you can just get old
You’re gonna kick off before you even get halfway through
Why don’t you realize… Vienna waits for you?
When will you realize… Vienna waits for you?

Ah Vienna, a metaphor for a dream. The truth is just what the song says… you can get what you want, or you can just get old. Who wants to look back and realize you didn’t go for it… whatever it is to you.

Take some time, don’t get ahead of yourself, appreciate what you already have, figure out where you really want to go and create a plan to get there.

That’s when you’ll realize… Vienna waits for you.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time.
