Writing Wednesdays: I Know You Are, But What Am I?

The title of this blog post kind of takes you back right?  Back to the days of childhood, of teasing or being teased. Someone said you were dumb, stupid or a jerk… and you responded, “I know you are, but what am I?”

But you can also turn that around because in this world you are something else.

You are amazing.
You are incredible.
You are one-of-a-kind, there is no one else like you.
You are able to move mountains.
You are turning impossible… to I’m possible.
You are a work of art.
You are creating.
You are loving.
You are giving.
You are nurturing.
You are offering hope.
You are becoming the very best-version-of-yourself.
You are giving everything you have to everyone you meet.
You are a child of God.

You are also flawed.
You are far from perfect.
You are lost.
You are fighting a hard battle.
You are making mistakes, big and small.
You are feeling regret.
You are feeling guilty.
You are feeling shame.
You are feeling alone.
You are overwhelmed.
You are wondering how you will make your way through this world.
You are thinking is it all worth it?
You are wondering why you’re here?
You are asking why me?
You are ready to give up.
You are holding back because you think if you revealed your true self others wouldn’t love you anymore.
You are broken.

You are afraid.

You are also finding a way to rise above.
You are fighting back through adversity.
You are recognizing that every day is a gift.
You are getting up everyday and living it as if it were your last, (because you know eventually you will be right).
You are realizing you have more to give then you have been giving.
You are knowing you can love deeper then you ever have.
You are being the kind of person others look up to and respect because you are fighting back against your demons and you are beating back against resistance.
You are doing all you can with all you have been given because you know this is the only way.
You are praying and you are asking God to bless and to touch everyone because you are aware we are all human brothers and sisters and we all need each other.
You are compassionate.
You are accepting.
You are dreaming the biggest and brightest dream because you know you have one, it has been given to you and you know you must use it for the benefit of others.
You are realizing if you can find your why and your way the whole world wins.
You are a miracle.

You are love.

I know you are… but what am I?
I’m just like you.

Until next time thanks for taking the time,
