If love is creation and death is destruction, then I’m just the terrain in between. – Time
Saw the movie Collateral Beauty the other day and it’s impossible to leave that movie without thinking…to yourself or out loud. Without giving too much away, in the film the main character writes letters to three concepts, or abstractions: Time, Love & Death.
It figures there are three of them, since three is a magic number, (see blog: https://markbrodinsky.com/3-is-a-magic-number-its-just-about-life/), but to dissect all three would take way longer then there is time in this blog today. Yes, way longer than there is time.
Time. The one concept for which there is not as clear an explanation as for love and death. Love is everywhere, in everything, in every moment. Death is definite, an end, to know it’s coming should inspire us to truly live.
But there’s that Time thing. And what I’ve come to learn is that is a thing. Just consider:
Time heals all wounds.
It just takes time.
Time will make it better.
You can’t stop time.
In time it could have been so much more.
You’re running out of time.
That last one’s a whopper, since we must believe it and honor it, because we all are, every single day. We’re simply running out of time. To believe wholeheartedly is to find a way to truly live. If Time is the terrain in between love and death then it is the very essence of life. Yet it is often misunderstood, many times attempts are made to negotiate for more, but in the end there is no compromise, time marches on, regardless of our desires.
So we have no choice on this earth but to honor and obey and to use it wisely. We stand in awe and move forward in-step so as not to lose even a second.
When time ends for someone we mourn. Yet if time was used to the best of its ability then there is reason for celebration, because this someone had impact, they made a difference, they used their time wisely and the world shifted on its axis because they were here. We all benefit. It was time well spent.
This thing called Time. The more you try to explain it, the more you realize it would take so much time to completely understand and all the while you are spending precious seconds, minutes, hours or days trying to comprehend, because time waits for no one. It is omnipotent and we must respect this infinite power.
It is as constant as it can be, and quite fair, it provides a level playing field for every human being, since we all have exactly the same amount of time each day. The question then you must ask yourself is how are you playing the game, how are you respecting your time and what will you ultimately do with it?
Because time is fleeting, there is much to do or NOT to do, depending on how you spend it. There’s nothing wrong with quiet time either, maybe meditating or even reading, (like a blog), it can make the time after more meaningful, and can be time well spent. At least I hope so, since I took the time to write today.
Until next time thanks for taking the time,
Mark
