HuffPost, that’s how Arianna Huffington refers to it. At least how she refers to it in
the e-mail she sent to me:
“Mark, many thanks for sharing your personal journey with me. We would love to feature your voice on HuffPost, including your story about your wife surviving cancer and how you are trying to inspire other people. I’m ccing our blog editor Jessica Rotondi to follow up. All the best, Arianna”
That’s way cool, at least to me. Getting that personal e-mail message from Arianna Huffington, less than a year-and-a-half since I launched this blog, is definitely a highlight along my journey. It’s in-line with my Why, to positively impact the lives of a billion people, to help them to find their Why and their Way.
I received the e-mail this past Sunday, a few days after reaching out to Arianna, not to ask to blog on Huffington, just to share my story, my journey as she referenced in the e-mail. Apparently after reading my e-mail, viewing my work, learning about my book, (I included links to all), she sent the above e-mail and invited me into the bloggers community on Huffington.
I’m pretty happy about this turn of events. I spent the past few days e-mailing back and forth with Jessica, the blog editor, sending her my picture, my bio and getting everything set up and ready to go for HuffPost.
The editors now have my first blog (it can take up to 24 hours to be viewed, approved and posted). I uploaded the blog last night, shortly after returning from a speaking engagement at the Kaufman Cancer Center in Bel Air, MD, where I was offered the opportunity to share the story of It Takes 2, and talk about the book, caregiving, cancer, and offering hope and encouragement to others going through the journey. Between the Huffington blog and the seminar at Kaufman; certainly a day of great synergy.
The HuffPost blog is titled, Splendid Discipline. I thought it was appropriate because that’s exactly how I am getting where I want to go and I know it’s the reason I have this opportunity to be part of the Huffington community. There are more than 275 posts on this blog now and they didn’t happen by accident. They are part of focus, dedication and consistency in sharing what I am learning about personal growth, self-improvement, personal stories and story-telling… sharing other people’s stories every Sunday, in hopes of you being inspired by their heroism.
Speak from the heart and everyone who has one will buy in. I am trying to share that heart everywhere I go, to lift up others and myself in turn.
I’ll let you know when the blog officially posts on Huffington. Thanks to Arianna Huffington for the invitation and thanks to all of you for paying attention. The journey continues.
Until next time, thanks for taking the time.
Mark
