Go For It: It’s Just About… Life.

You won’t get there if you don’t try and you will never know what is possible unless you give it a shot.

The picture at the top of this blog is no joke, it’s real, just not for sale. The cover was created by the talented graphic designer Holly Burke, and is now in the hands of the producers of the Ellen Show. They should also may know my wife’s story by now. I was on the Ellen website and filled out the information to describe our journey, since this month Ellen is looking to speak to breast cancer survivors. Debbie belongs to that group now… Survivor.

So I figured, let’s go for it. We’ve got this book, It Takes 2. Surviving Breast Cancer: A Spouses’s Story, the journey through my eyes, in my words, from my heart. It was a tremendous struggle with a positive outcome and it was my goal to share and provide hope and inspiration to others going through the journey, about to go through it, or as I am learning every day, know of someone who is facing the challenge… there are many of you.

The book is already a success, because even one person has been touched and either posted about it, or contacted me privately to let me know their feelings. If it can touch one, how about thousands, or millions. You never know until you try. The message is worth sharing.

For years now, Ellen has supported the cause on a national stage. Her mom, Betty, is a breast cancer survivor. Anyone who has been touched by the disease, so prevalent in this country, is looking for a way to give back, to help in the fight, to find a cure.

I decided to have the cover created as a way to be different. You can’t buy the cover, it was created especially for the Ellen Show. But if you have the ability to forward, to post, to tweet the picture, or this blog, or even go to the show website and share the message, then we are all drawing attention to the cause. Yes, the cover is off-the-wall, out of the ordinary, but it’s usually the little extra that takes you from ordinary to extraordinary. I’m hoping given enough attention, the Ellen Show might just pay attention.

When you speak from the heart, everyone who has one will buy in. So why not go for it.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time.

Mark
