Hard to Find the Words: It’s Just About… Life.

Thank you.

Those two words don’t seem to be nearly enough. It’s been one month since the worldwide launch of It Takes 2. Surviving Breast Cancer: A Spouse’s Story.

My wife lived it. I wrote it. BUT it’s YOU. YOU made it a Best Seller on Amazon. YOU came to the book launch party and continue to come to the book signings. YOU send messages of gratitude, hope, support, pride, tremendous reviews and words of thanks for sharing the message. It’s YOU and US, making this more than a book, forming a community. The goal has been to give back in words, by telling the story and in dollars, by donating. In just one month, on local book sales alone, I have been able to donate over $1,300 to six different charities. That’s just local, the dollars for the Amazon sales won’t be here until next month and 20% of those proceeds will also go to cancer organizations, non-profits, research, education and prevention.

Back in May I took the virtual online course Best Seller in a Weekend, taught by Alicia Dunams, (https://www.facebook.com/GettingYouPublished). Her message was this: a book will change your life. But I think she left out the best part and maybe the most important part, at least with this book, how it will touch other lives and by doing so, change those as well. The book fits the mission of this blog: become more, by helping others do the same. My vision for the book, to help those men, women, couples going through breast cancer, or any other serious illness, by telling the story, our story and by showing the world how love, support, courage, and insight into all of this, can enrich healing and raise hope for a better outcome. The “experts” and the doctors can give advice, but only those who lived it can tell their story and share that story in the hope of helping others.

There really are no words, and that’s tough for me, since I commit myself to writing words, to doing a blog at least every other day. The thank yous seem to fall short, but the English language and our culture leave us only so many words to express gratitude. All I can say is this, we are just getting started. Years from now, these first 30 days will seem like a blip in the universe, because I am determined to spread the message, to help, to give back and help change lives.

It Takes 2 is just one story of our lives. But YOU have proven lives are intertwined, the purest and rarest experience of this human adventure is to share with other people, the tough times and the best times.

The one message we all need to hold on to, every day of our lives and believe down deep in the confines of our heart, to make this experience all it can be is this: the best is yet to come.

From the bottom of my heart: thank you.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time.

  1. We are proud to be able to call you our son and “daughter”. You both are making the world a
little more knowledgeable by the book and much better by donating the monies. Hard to believe that you have been able to contribute so much in such a little time. You both are amazing and we love you.

  2. You have struck a nerve and I am happy for you and your wife and family and all the people your words and your book have touched.

    1. Thank you Haralee and thanks for sharing.
