Rarely have I blogged twice in one day.
But just before 2pm today, I got this e-mail from the team at Huffington Post: Thank you very much for your blog post. It’s been published.
This is my first blog published with Huffington. It’s my 285th post on my personal blog ,but my 1st with HuffPost.
I promised I would share when it happened. And I’m always transparent. They turned down my first blog last week, but rejection and failure are part of life. Accept and move on, do better next time. I don’t think I did better, but the Huffington blog team apparently thought this one was worthy.
I shared the news with some close friends and family and with my business/life coach, Jodi Hume. Her text, like a few others, saw all of this as being a big deal. I do, but I don’t. This is my 285th blog on this site, I didn’t begin yesterday, I started more than a year and a half earlier with the very first blog.
Jodi’s text to me relayed her excitement on this accomplishment and ended with, “…and so it begins.” My response to her was, “No, it continues. It began some time ago.” But it’s Jodi’s response that made perfect sense: “Of course it did. 🙂 But you just leveled up. Everything changes and shifts when you level up. Welcome to one big step closer to everything you want… :)” See, these are the type of people I want and need on my team. No dream is possible without a team.
When my phone buzzed with the e-mail from the Huffington team, I was sitting on the beach next to my oldest daughter Sophie, the one who my wife says, for good and for not-so-good, is just like me 🙂 I looked at the e-mail and showed it to Sophie and explained what it was all about. Sophie gave me a high -five. In the distance, I watched Debbie and my youngest Emily, romping in the surf. You have to know me well to know, the beach, the ocean, the water’s edge, might be my happiest place on earth. To get the message I was up on Huff, sitting at the beach and have someone I helped create sitting next to me to acknowledge that moment, that’s what matters.
And thanks to all of you who follow the blog, thanks for your support. I’m trying to do my best, to learn, to share, to inspire, to love. Maybe, just maybe I’m getting it right.
