Less Is More, Way More: It’s Just About… Life.

Sure you’ve heard the expression before, less is more. Talk less, listen more. Make it easy, it will get accomplished. Take the biggest task and break it into tiny pieces and you can get it accomplished. By the yard, it’s hard. But inch by inch, anything’s a cinch.

So imagine improving yourself by just one-tenth of one percent. I’ve heard this message several times over the past year and it rings true. Brain Tracy says this is called the Law of Accumulation, or the Principle of Incremental Improvement. It is the primary reason for all great success stories. If you become one tenth of one percent more productive each day, that amounts to 1/1000th improvement per working day. Compound over ten years, you are then 1000% better than you are today.

Who wouldn’t want to be 1000% better? 1000% more productive. 1000% times wealthier. 1000% more fulfilled.

The question is when do you begin? When is the right time? Today. We have work to do, but it can’t wait for the right time, there is no right time. The right time is now. Make a plan to get a little bit better each day, just one new idea, one better thought, one piece of inspiration every day. It’s only 1/10th of one percent. Who can’t handle that?

Write down goals, too few do, look at them every day. Read 10 pages of a good book every day, one that makes you think, dream and want to be more. Think of three things you are grateful for every day. Realize your gift, your talent and do just one thing every day to enrich that gift. The transformation, over time will be massive.

They say there is no such thing as an overnight success. I don’t agree. If you wake up tomorrow and you are one-tenth of one percent better than you were today, that IS success. And it happened overnight. And it will happen every night! String those tiny successes together and the future will take care of itself. Less will become more in a big, big way.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time.

  1. You bring up an interesting point. When you are ill or with an ill person a small improvement is a big deal. I remember how happy I was to tell my oncologist that I could climb a flight of stairs and take the garbage 20 feet to the end of the driveway. Small achievements but big accomplishments that I had taken for granted before!

    1. Thanks for sharing. Appreciate the small victories.
