Sometimes It Takes 3: It’s Just About… Life.

Two can move mountains and accomplish feats you once thought were impossible. Three can make magic.

As we wrap up launch week for, It Takes 2. Surviving Breast Cancer: A Spouse’s Story, first a note of thanks for allowing me the opportunity and paying attention to the blog posts this week, as we ramped up for release of the book. Your response has been overwhelming and I appreciate it more than you can imagine.

The word imagine. It takes you places just saying it out loud. I could not have imagined how everything fell into place this week, including what is happening tonight. Long before the night was planned, I had already picked the date for the worldwide book launch for, It Takes 2, September 26th, then I spoke to Jeff Sirody and Scott Bondroff and the next thing you knew there was a benefit party planned with Charm City Static for tonight, September 27th. It just so happened the band was already scheduled to play tonight at Michael’s Café in Timonium, and Jeff and Scott were more than happy to help create a party with a purpose. We’re giving back. A portion of tonight’s proceeds from sales of the book and food and drink sales at Michael’s, go directly to Men Against Breast Cancer.

Three forces working together: the author, the musicians and our gracious host. You can’t help but think something special can come of all of this. Believe and achieve. Look for the opportunity to make a difference and go for it. I have talked to Scott several times over the past few weeks as we ironed out all the details and each time he has told me how excited he is about tonight, and how we are going to accomplish something big. The magic of three.

Next week, this blog will return to my mission: To become more, by helping others do the same. Though in reality, the release of ,It Takes 2, is in line with the mission, but we won’t be talking about the book every day, we will get back to the business of viewing the world through a lens which too few take the time to use, to help you take stock of what is important, pause for the little moments, focus on self-improvement, growth and living out your dreams.

Another piece of mine is in place, if you would be so kind, there is now a website devoted to the book and the cause: www.spouses-story.com. It is 90% ready to go, you can pop over there for a preview, we are still working on the full functionality of the “buttons”, or links you can click, but I would love for you to take a glance and let me know what you think, shoot me an e-mail at markbrodinsky@spouses-story.com. The site will be centered on the book, the author and more importantly, as a resource for those who want support, education and inspiration in dealing with breast cancer, or any other type of cancer or serious illness. When the website is fully functional, (hopefully by this weekend), you will be able to click on links to at least 30 organizations, groups, research facilities, hospitals, non-profits and support groups… all with a focus on helping to fight the good fight, to heal in body and mind.

Tonight our minds are on a reason to celebrate. A few weeks back, my daughters and I were watching a movie, an oldie, but a goodie, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. One of the great lines in the movie is when Wonka turns to Veruca Salt, the bratty little girl who refuses to accept the notion that the fruit-flavored wallpaper she is licking could taste like snozberries. “Snozberries?, who ever heard of a snozberry?!”, she exclaims. Wonka turns to her, looks her straight in the eye and says, “we are the music makers, we are the dreamers of the dreams.”

Music and dreams. Tonight we are coming together, to do our part and accomplish a little of what Wonka also sings about in that same film, “… want to change the world, there’s nothing to it…”

Change is in the wind.
