Spring This!: It’s Just About… Life.

It’s Baltimore, Maryland, it’s the middle of May, and it’s freezing. With apologies to anyone who has ever written a poem… here’s mine. Now warm me up, please.

Twas the 14th of May,
and all through the town,
the people I saw,
they walked with a frown.

“It’s supposed to be spring”,
I heard one man shout.
“But it’s just so damn cold,
I don’t want to go out”.

Can’t say I would argue,
In fact I’d have to agree.
Cause it seems that since winter,
we haven’t moved one degree!

I mean what the heck happened?
Who canceled Spring?
In nearly 48 years,
I’ve never seen such a thing.

Walking the dog,
I need a coat and a hat!
His poops freeze on contact,
now how’d you like that?

It’s the middle of May,
for g-d sake please help us.
We just can’t get warm,
at zero degrees celsius!

I should be outside working,
with plants and with flowers,
but it’s just so darn cold,
I sit here for hours.

Can’t believe that it’s like this,
I can’t work in the yard.
When I dare step outside,
my nipples get hard!

You might think I’m dramatic,
but here is the thing.
I don’t see the bees buzzin,
I can’t hear the birds sing.

We’re all freezin’ our buns off,
and for g-d sake it’s May.
Please turn on the heat,
good money I’d pay.

I still can remember,
that damn Groundhog Phil.
He did not see his shadow,
and we were all thrilled.

Back then we were told it wouldn’t be long,
Spring’s right around the corner,
let’s all sing a song.

But now let me tell you,
I have a word or two,
cause now that it’s May,
I say, “Hey Phil, F You!!”
