Turn the Beat Around: It’s Just About… Life.

charm city static 2013 08 15 It Takes Two (v2)There’s no getting around it, music is the universal language of our soul. I have used countless song lyrics in this blog, talked about the subject, put it down in words. In fact in the Afterword for, It Takes 2, I write the following: “Still, I would like to think even she (my wife), hears the sound of the cancer drum beating only in the distance, removed from her body, though never far from her memory.”

A year-and-a-half ago, we kept in time to the beat of a different drummer, as breast cancer tried to silence the music of our hearts. In just five days we are going to turn the beat around.

With the launch of my book, It Takes Two. Surviving Breast Cancer: A Spouse’s Story, we will start creating new memories, as powerful as the ones which are now part of our history. We are bringing back the music of our lives in a big way, with the worldwide book launch on September 26th on Amazon, and one day later, with the band who is going to help us take it to the next level. Crank up the volume, we are ready to rock.

In partnership with the band Charm City Static, presented by Scott Bondroff and in coordination with Michael’s Café in Timonium, MD, we are going to raise the roof, raise money for a good cause, and party for a higher purpose. The official book launch party for, It Takes 2 and the debut of Charm City Static at Michael’s Cafe, begins this Friday at 7:30pm.

It all came together with a Facebook message to front man Jeff Sirody and then a phone call right after Labor Day. Jeff has followed our journey, knew about our battle against the beast for much of 2012 and into 2013 and was more than willing to help. Another phone call to promoter Scott Bondroff, and we were off… arranging this Friday’s event at Michael’s. Books will be signed and for sale, the band will rock the house, and the house and I will be giving back proceeds from book sales, food and drink, to several different cancer and non-profit organizations, including Men Against Breast Cancer.

Synergy is rare, but when it happens, it can change the world. This week we are making a small dent in the universe. The music of my soul I poured into a book to provide value and inspiration, linked with a band who plays with heart and soul and at a venue in the heart of our community.

It Takes 2. Charm City Static. Michael’s Café… and You. A big party with a bigger purpose.

Can’t wait to turn this beat around.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time.

Mark
